What We’ll Uncover Together

  • Basilica of San Clemente: Rome’s ultimate living timeline. We’ll start in the 12th-century upper church beneath glowing Byzantine-style mosaics, then head underground to explore the 4th-century church below. Down even further, we'll reach intact 1st-century Roman rooms and a mysterious 2nd-century pagan temple to Mithras, where you can still hear subterranean water trickling through ancient channels.
  • Santi Quattro Coronati: Tucked quietly away from the busy streets, this medieval fortified monastery feels like stepping back into the Middle Ages. We’ll wander through its peaceful cloisters and visit the Chapel of Saint Sylvester, home to rare, remarkably preserved 13th-century frescoes that tell a fascinating story of medieval church politics.
  • Archbasilica of St. John Lateran: Wrap up at the true mother church of Rome, founded by Emperor Constantine in the 4th century. We’ll look at how the site evolved from an imperial stronghold into a Baroque masterpiece, marvel at Borromini’s sweeping nave and towering Apostle statues, and take in the seat of the Bishop of Rome.

It’s the perfect way to spend a morning if you love connecting the dots between empires, architecture, and the quirky, layered stories that built the Eternal City.
